Lack of clear instructions
I recently installed a Contour 2 exhaust fan light (3-in-1) to replace an existing 10-year old Contour 2 exhaust fan light fitting. The new fitting has been updated. It has two springs instead of one to hold the facia on. The contour of the facia also has a very minor change in the shape and there is no' Martec' label on it.
The biggest change is the addition of a "Thermal Protector", which requires a permanent live connection. While the instruction sheet shows this 'L' wire connection, it is not clear what its purpose is, there is only a a vague '𝜃' symbol - I had to look up instructions for the 4-lamp version to find out what it is. When I sent an enquiry to Martec about the 'L' connection I was advised that not only is it necessary to connect the 'L' wire, but not having it will VOID the warranty!
The addition of the "Thermal Protector", and need to have the live wire connection is a major step, while I may have missed when it was introduced, it is something that needs to be clearly identified in the instructions, not just a vague symbol with no explanation.
I would have given the Martec Contour 2 a higher rating but for this issue!
