Every brand comes with a full manufacturer warranty, and most items can be returned within 30 days. If a product keeps letting customers down, we stop selling it.

How we started
It started as a side project
The Lighting Outlet began in 2012 as a side project, and as one of the first places in Australia to buy lighting online. Founder Mitchell Elworthy started with lighting that other stores had stopped stocking, and found there was always someone, somewhere, hunting for exactly that fitting.
Outdoor lighting took off first. Customers wanted wall lights, step lights and spike lights that matched, with the cable and connectors to run them, all from one place. So that is what we built, and it is still the backbone of the range.
From there the plan was simple. Stock as much as we could from brands across Australia and around the world, and make the website the easiest place to find it. More than a decade and over 500,000 orders later, that has not changed.

Mitchell Elworthy
Founder and CEO
Started TLO as a side project in 2012. If a fitting exists, Mitch usually knows who makes it. Dad of three and keen golfer.
David Metry
Head of Operations and Finance
Keeps customer service, the warehouse and the books running. Holds a Masters in Material Science and loves to travel.
Tabatha Marsola
Lighting Designer
More than 10 years across interior styling and lighting design. Cyclist, runner and bushwalker, usually with her dogs Ruby and Mj.
Fernanda Silva
Trade Manager
More than 15 years in lighting, over five of them with us, and there is rarely a product question she can't answer. Fernanda looks after our trade customers, and her garden.

Is The Lighting Outlet an Australian business?
Yes. We're Australian owned, and our office and warehouse are at 1/153 Beauchamp Rd, Matraville, in Sydney.
Do you have a showroom?
No. We're online only, which is how we carry such a large range. Our team is on the phone on weekdays if you'd like help choosing.
Where do orders ship from?
Most orders are picked and packed in our Sydney warehouse. Some larger or special order items ship directly from the brand.
Do you deliver to New Zealand?
Yes. We deliver across New Zealand through thelightingoutlet.co.nz.
Can you get a product that isn't on the website?
Often, yes. Tell us the brand and model, or send a photo, and our team will try to source it. We also make LED strip to your measurements.

Do you offer trade pricing?
