Bedside Table Lamps

Aim for the base of the shade to sit near eye level when you are sitting up in bed. On a standard nightstand that is usually a lamp between 40cm and 55cm tall. Measure your bedside table height and add your preferred lamp so the light falls onto your book, not into your eyes.

Yes. A dimmable lamp replaces two lamps in one: full brightness for reading, then a soft low glow for winding down. Many of our bedside lamps are dimmable, and touch models often dim through several brightness levels with a tap.

Look for a lamp that throws light downward onto the page, ideally 400 lumens or more, with a shade or adjustable head that directs the beam. Our bedside reading lamps are chosen to give clear, comfortable light without disturbing your partner.

Touch lamps have a sensor in the metal base. A tap turns the light on, and further taps often cycle through brightness levels before turning it off. They use a standard bulb and plug into a normal power point, so there is nothing extra to install.

In a main bedroom, a matching pair either side of the bed gives balanced light and a tidy, symmetrical look. For a single bedside or a study nook, one lamp is perfectly fine. Most of our designs can be bought singly or as a pair.
