Can plaster lights be painted?

Yes. Most raw plaster and gypsum lights can be painted with a standard water based wall paint so they disappear into the wall, or match a feature colour. Check the individual product page for any finish notes before painting.

Yes. Most plaster wall lights and plaster downlights are supplied in a raw or matt white finish that is designed to be painted. Use a standard water-based acrylic paint to match your wall or ceiling colour exactly, or leave them white for a classic architectural look.

They are cast from gypsum plaster, with some designs made from raw ceramic. It is a natural, durable material that has been used in decorative mouldings for centuries, and it gives each fitting a solid, seamless feel that melds into the wall or ceiling around it.

Yes. Alongside our plaster wall light range we stock surface mounted plaster downlights and trimless recessed designs from brands like Ore Lighting and Havit, which can be set into the ceiling and plastered over for a completely seamless finish.

Trimless plaster downlights are recessed into the ceiling and plastered in, so no trim or bezel is visible once painted. Surface mounted plaster downlights sit below the ceiling like a small sculptural cylinder, so there is no cut-out required and they can be installed where recessing is not possible.

Most plaster lights are rated IP20, which makes them ideal for indoor dry areas such as living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and kitchens. If you are lighting a bathroom zone or covered outdoor area, check the IP rating on the product page first or get in touch and we will point you to a suitable option.

Depending on the design, our plaster lights take G9, E14, E27 or GU10 globes, and a number have built-in LED. Most are dimmable when paired with a compatible LED globe and dimmer - the specifics are listed on each product page.
