Choosing a driver and controller
Allow 15w for every metre of strip and add about 20% headroom. A full 5 metre run draws 75w, so it needs a 24v driver of at least 90w, which in practice means a 100w driver. For longer installations, split the strip into runs of 5 metres or less and feed each run separately. The 10 metre roll is supplied as one reel, so plan your runs before cutting. Your RGB controller must be rated for the full load of the run. In damp or outdoor locations, use a weatherproof IP66 or IP67 driver and controller, or keep them under cover.
Mounting and outdoor use
This strip must be installed on an aluminium heat dissipating surface to keep the warranty valid. The neatest option is an aluminium profile at least 15mm wide inside to suit the 14mm strip. Every cut end must be resealed with an end cap and silicone to keep the IP67 rating, and outdoor joins should be made in a waterproof connector or junction box.
IP67 rated against dust and water immersion, so it can be used outdoors as well as inside.
