Choosing a driver and controller
Allow 20w for every metre of strip and add about 20% headroom. A full 5 metre run draws 100w, so it needs a 24v driver of at least 120w, which in practice means a 150w driver. For longer installations, split the strip into runs of 5 metres or less and feed each run separately. The 10 metre roll is supplied as one reel, so plan your runs before cutting. Your RGBC or RGBW controller handles colour and dimming, and it must be rated for the full load of the run. In damp or outdoor locations, use a weatherproof IP66 or IP67 driver and controller, or keep them under cover.
Mounting and heat
This strip must be installed on an aluminium heat dissipating surface to keep the warranty valid. An aluminium profile at least 13mm wide inside suits the 12mm strip, protects it and extends its life. Seal any cut ends to keep the IP54 protection.
IP54 rated for damp and sheltered locations, such as bathrooms and covered entertaining areas.
