Most Australian homes still have a bare batten holder somewhere. The laundry, a hallway, a spare bedroom, the garage. This shade is the fix, and it does not need an electrician.
It fits straight onto the existing batten holder that is already there, using the standard bayonet B22 globe you already have. The timber ceiling cover, real wood rather than a printed finish, hides the batten fitting completely, so what was an exposed globe becomes a considered piece of lighting in about five minutes with a step ladder.
The shade itself is 230mm wide and 195mm tall in matt black or matt white, and the coloured inner surface cuts the glare you get from looking straight up at an uncovered globe.
It suits one B22 bayonet globe to a maximum of 40 watts, sold separately. Because this is a do it yourself accessory rather than a wired fitting, there is no rewiring involved. Do check what you have first, though: this shade is made for a bayonet batten holder, not a screw base one.
