Description:
The part that saves a downlight retrofit from turning into a plastering job. Older downlights were cut into much larger ceiling holes than modern LED fittings need, so when the old fitting comes out you are left with an opening far too wide for the new one. This plate covers that gap.
It is 185mm across on the outside and will bridge existing ceiling cut outs anywhere from 95mm up to 160mm. That range covers most of what you find when you pull out an old halogen or CFL downlight, which is why one plate can handle a whole house of mismatched holes rather than needing a different solution in each room.
The alternative is patching, sanding and repainting every opening before the new lights go in, which turns a one afternoon job into a week and leaves you matching ceiling paint. A converter plate is fitted in a minute per light and sits flush.
Finished in white to sit against a standard ceiling. It is used with recessed, ceiling mounted LED downlights, and the fitting clamps through the plate in the normal way. Installation is a job for a licensed electrician, who can confirm the plate suits the specific downlight you are installing.
