Glazed ceramic, and the glaze is doing the work here. Ivory on its own would be flat, but fired to a high gloss it picks up whatever is around it, so the base shifts through the day: warm and creamy under lamplight, cooler and brighter next to a window. It is the kind of finish that makes a plain colour look expensive.

The shade is Irish linen, straight sided at ø270mm top and bottom, which keeps the silhouette upright and formal rather than flaring out. Linen softens the light on its way through, so the lamp reads as a pool of warmth on a hall console or a living room side table rather than a task light.
