Description:
A plain rectangular wall light in satin black, glazed on its sides with clear glass and left open at the top and bottom. That openness is what gives it character. The globe is on show, light escapes upward and downward as well as sideways, and the fitting reads as a frame around the light rather than a shade over it.
Because the globe is visible, it is worth putting a good one in. A vintage carbon filament or an LED filament globe in E27 turns this from a functional wall light into a feature, which is why it works as well in a bar or a restaurant as it does in a hallway. Run a plain frosted globe instead and the same fitting goes quiet and unfussy.
At 250mm high, 170mm wide and only 140mm off the wall, it stays out of the way in a corridor where a wider fitting would catch shoulders. Satin black keeps it neutral against white paint, dark walls or tile, and it pairs well in twos either side of a bed or a mirror.
One thing to be clear about: the open top and bottom mean this is an interior fitting only, so keep it away from exposed or damp positions. Installation is a job for a licensed electrician.
