Solid copper, 620mm tall including the spike, with a hood over the top so the light is thrown down onto the path rather than out into your eyes. Copper is the point of difference here. Left alone outdoors it weathers from bright metal through brown to a soft green patina, so the fitting changes over the years instead of just fading.

It runs on 12v, which is what makes it a genuine DIY job. Quick connectors are supplied, so joining the run is a matter of pushing the cable into the connector rather than cutting and terminating, and there is no mains voltage anywhere in the garden bed. You will need a suitable 12v transformer or driver to feed it, sized to the total wattage of the run.

The lamp is a G4 up to 20w, so a 12v LED G4 is the sensible fit. IP44 rated. At 16mm the stem is slim enough to disappear into planting, which suits a path edge, a driveway border, or the front of a garden bed where you want the light and not the fitting.
