At 100mm tall and 70mm wide this is a deliberately small exterior light, and the size is the point. It throws a clean downward wash onto a path, a step or a doorway without becoming a feature on the wall itself. On a modern facade where the architecture is meant to do the work, that restraint is usually what you want.
Downward light also behaves better outdoors than light thrown in every direction. It puts the light where people are walking, keeps it out of your eyes and out of the neighbours windows, and it grazes a rendered or brick wall in a way that shows the texture. A run of them evenly spaced along a path or a fence line looks considered rather than accidental.
It is rated IP54, so it is protected against dust and water spray from any direction, which covers an exposed entry wall, an alfresco area or a garden wall. The body is aluminium, which is the sensible material for something living permanently outside.
It takes a standard GU10 globe up to 35w, so you choose the colour temperature and can change it later without touching the fitting. A warm globe suits an entry, a cooler one reads as security lighting. Available in black or white, and the globe is not included.
