This is sold as a base only, and that is the point of it. The lampholder hangs from the end of the arm rather than sitting on top of a stem, so the shade you choose is free to be almost anything: a 300mm fabric drum, one of our natural cane shades, a woven pendant shade, or a plain metal cone. The lamp becomes whatever the room needs it to be.

That flexibility is worth having in a room you expect to change. If you repaint or reupholster in three years, you swap a shade rather than the whole lamp. It also lets you match a floor lamp to pendants you already own, which is otherwise surprisingly hard to do.

Standing 1600mm tall with a 280mm reach, it sits comfortably beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa where a table lamp would be too low to read by. The base is 250mm across and only 30mm high, so it slides under furniture edges without rocking. The foot switch on the cord means no reaching up under the shade in the dark. Shade and globe are both sold separately.
