Ribbed glass has been used on wall lights for the better part of a century, which is exactly why it still looks right in a new build and in a 1920s hallway. The fluting breaks the light up as it passes through, so the glass reads as a lit object rather than a bare globe behind a cover.
Here it is held on a plain black metal bracket. No scrolls, no detail, nothing competing with the glass. That restraint is what lets it work either side of a mirror, along a hallway, beside a bed as a reading light, or flanking a fireplace.
Choose clear glass if you want the globe visible and the ribbing to sparkle. Choose opal if you want an even, diffused glow and no glare, which is usually the better call at eye level or beside a mirror.
It projects 290mm from the wall and stands 340mm tall, with a compact 120mm canopy. Takes one E27 globe up to 25w, not supplied. A filament,style LED suits the clear version, while a frosted LED is the tidier choice behind opal.
As with any hardwired wall light, installation is a job for a licensed electrician.
