A touch lamp is one of those things you do not think about until you have one beside the bed, and then you would not go back. No fumbling for a switch on a cord in the dark. Touch the metal base and it comes on, touch it again and it goes off.

This is a compact version at 270mm tall and 140mm wide, which is deliberate. Bedside tables fill up with books, glasses and a phone, and a lamp that takes half the surface is a nuisance. Three finishes are available: antique brass, brushed chrome and gunmetal, each paired with a pearl white polyester cotton drum shade that keeps the light soft.

Note the globe size. This lamp uses the smaller E14 screw base rather than the standard E27, rated to a maximum of 42 watts, and globes are sold separately. It is an on and off touch switch rather than a dimmer, so energy saving LED globes are perfectly happy in it.

This lamp features a touch sensitive switch, which is either an ON/OFF TOUCH SWITCH or a stepped TOUCH DIMMER.

Touch ON/OFF are compatible with most globe types, including energy efficient LED Globes.

Touch DIMMER lamps would only be fitted with incandescent or halogen globes, and would not be fitted with compact fluorescent or LED globes.

CAUTION: This lamp should not be “mega tested” as the touch mechanism will be damaged.

Not dimmable
The lamps look nice but one of the pair is uneven on the bottom so it rocks on the bedside table. On reading the listing, the product details suggested that the lamps are dimmable, so I bought the dimmable bulbs. Howver they only touch on and off. Probably don’t need to spend the extra on dimmable bulbs.

Lovely small lamp
However not suitable for my needs ,and had a huge problem getting globes .
