An arc lamp exists to put light where there is no ceiling point, and this one reaches a full metre out from its base. That is what lets it stand behind a sofa and drop light over the middle of it, or lean over an armchair or a corner of a room that the overhead lighting has never quite covered. No rewiring, no new ceiling rose.
Reach like that needs weight behind it, and the counterbalance here is a solid black marble base. Marble is a natural stone, so the veining in every base is different and yours will not look exactly like the photograph. It also means the lamp stays where you put it rather than tipping toward the arc.
The chrome finish is the flexible part. It is bright enough to feel contemporary against a plain wall and reflective enough to sit comfortably in a more traditional room with polished timber and other metal finishes.
The 300mm shade points straight down, so pair it with a lower wattage LED globe if you want soft ambient light for the room, or something brighter if it is going to be the lamp you actually read under. It stands 1820mm tall with a 1750mm cord and takes one E27 globe up to 60w. Globe not included.
