The workhorse batten, in black instead of white
Surface mounted battens usually get specified because there is no ceiling cavity to recess into, or because the room needs even light without a grid of downlights. The catch is that most of them are unapologetically white plastic. This one is matt black, which lets it read as a deliberate line across the ceiling rather than something the sparky had on the van.
Behind the frosted acrylic panel is an Epistar LED board. The panel is what stops it looking like a bare strip, spreading the output evenly along the full length so there is no dotting and no glare when you look up. It puts out 2800 lumens across 40W, which comfortably covers a kitchen, a laundry, a hallway or a garage on its own.
The cable entry sits in the middle of the batten rather than at one end, so the fitting can be centred on an existing ceiling point without visible cable running along it. A suspension kit is available separately if you would rather hang it as a pendant over a bench.
Colour temperature is chosen at installation across 3000K, 4000K and 5000K. Note this model is not dimmable. Installation by a licensed electrician.
