A full height post light, 2250mm from the ground to the top of the lantern. That is the height that makes a driveway entrance or a front path read as deliberate rather than an afterthought, and it puts the light source above eye level so it lights the ground without dazzling anyone walking towards it.
The build is cast aluminium alloy in a textured black finish. Cast aluminium is the right material for a fitting that lives outdoors permanently. It does not rust the way steel does, and the textured coating hides the marks that a smooth gloss finish would show after a couple of summers.
Inside is optic lined clear glass. The ribbing scatters the output rather than letting a bare globe throw a hard shadow, so the pool of light around the base stays even.
Takes one E27 globe up to 60 watts, not included, and it is happy with LED or compact fluorescent. Rated IP44 for exterior use. A licensed electrician is required to install it.
