If you have a bare lamp holder sitting on a ceiling somewhere in the house, this is one of the easiest upgrades available. It pairs a glass diffuser with a solid timber canopy, and the whole assembly fixes onto the batten fitting you already have, provided that fitting takes a bayonet globe. No rewiring, no new mounting block and no electrician for a straight swap.
The result covers the exposed lamp holder and the old ceiling patch with something considerably better looking. The timber canopy is 80mm across and the glass hangs 170mm below it, so the finished fitting sits close to the ceiling at 205mm overall. That makes it a good option for laundries, hallways, walk in robes and smaller bedrooms where a hanging pendant would be in the way.
