Frosted glass is the detail that makes this a bedside light rather than just a wall light. The glass diffuses the globe completely, so there is no bright filament to catch your eye when you are lying down and looking sideways at it. That is the single most common complaint about clear glass wall lights, and this avoids it entirely.
