Touch lamps earn their place beside a bed. There is no switch to find in the dark and no cord to fish for on the floor. You put a hand anywhere on the metal base and it comes on, you touch it again and it goes off.

The glass has an alabaster finish, which is the milky, faintly veined look of the stone rather than a plain white. Lit from inside it glows evenly with no hot spot, and unlit it still looks like something rather than a blank shade.

Three finishes on the base. Antique brass for a warmer, more traditional room, brushed chrome for something cleaner and more current, and gunmetal if you want it to recede into a darker scheme.

Compact at 320mm tall and 225mm square on a 135mm base, so it fits a crowded bedside table. The cord runs 1600mm.

Takes one E14 globe up to 42w, not supplied. The touch circuit works with most globe types including LED, so you are not forced back to halogen to make it switch reliably.

Caution: this lamp must not be mega tested. Insulation resistance testing will damage the touch mechanism, so tell your electrician before the house is tested.
