Braided bamboo gives this table lamp its character. Fine strands are wound around the body so the braid catches light differently as you move around it, and the warm straw tone sits comfortably against timber furniture, rattan, jute and off-white walls. The beige linen shade is included, and its soft weave takes the edge off the light so the lamp reads as a pool of warmth rather than a bright spot.
At 495mm tall with a 300mm shade, it has enough presence for a console or a lounge room side table without crowding it. A pair either side of a sofa balances a room nicely. The cord carries the switch, so you can reach down and turn it off without feeling for a switch under the shade.
It takes a single E27 globe up to 40w. A warm white LED suits the linen best and keeps the shade cool to the touch. Skip anything with a heavily blue-toned output, since it fights the natural tones of the base.
Bamboo is a natural material and will lighten a little over years in direct sun, which most people consider part of the appeal. Wipe the base with a dry cloth and keep it out of damp rooms.
