800mm is the height that actually works on a path
Bollards get chosen badly more often than any other outdoor fitting. Too short and they light their own base and nothing else. Too tall and they stop being a bollard and start being a post. At 800mm this one clears low planting and throws light across the width of a path, which is the job.
The body is aluminium, so it will not rust the way a steel bollard eventually does when it is sitting in a garden bed getting hit by sprinklers. The lens is clear acrylic rather than glass, which is the sensible choice at shin height in a garden where a mower, a wheelbarrow or a football will find it sooner or later.
It is surface mounted, so it bolts to a paver, a concrete pad or a decking board rather than needing a spike driven into soil. That makes it far more stable long term, and it will not lean the way spiked fittings do after a wet winter.
