Point it, then re,point it later
The reason track spots survive in rooms that have been renovated twice is the head. It swivels, so the light follows whatever you have moved: a picture that shifted walls, a new island bench, shelving that went in where a sideboard used to be. Fixed downlights cannot do that without a plasterer.
The body here is deliberately plain, a simple barrel in matt black or white with no decoration to date it. Black recedes against a dark ceiling or a shadow line; white disappears into standard plasterboard. Neither draws attention away from whatever the beam is landing on, which is the whole idea.
It is compact, 55mm across the body and 130mm deep, so a run of four or five along a track reads as a neat line rather than a row of hardware. Track is sold separately.
The globe is GU10 and not included. That is worth taking advantage of rather than treating as a gap, because GU10 is the most widely stocked spot globe in Australia and the beam angle is where the result is decided. Narrow for artwork and objects, wide for general fill across a room. Installation by a licensed electrician.
