Blue and white patterned ceramic is one of those decorating traditions that keeps coming back, and this lamp is a straightforward modern take on it. The pattern runs over the whole body of the base rather than sitting as a band, so the lamp reads as a piece of ceramic first and a light second, even switched off during the day.

It is a big lamp. 560mm tall with a 310mm shade means it holds a console table, a wide bedside or a sideboard, and it will look undersized on a small side table. Worth measuring before you commit.

The ivory polyester cotton shade is included and mounts on a top harp, which is the traditional fitting and lets you swap the shade later if you want a different look. The cord runs 1800mm with the on/off switch on it.

One E27 globe up to 40w, not supplied. The recommended globe is a 7w E27 A60 LED in 3000k warm white, which suits the ivory shade and the blue glaze better than a cool white would.
