A coach light in the proper sense: die cast aluminium frame, obscure glass, open at the bottom. The open base is a practical detail rather than a stylistic one, since it means changing a globe is a thirty second job and nothing collects inside the fitting.

At 360mm high with a 240mm projection this is the everyday size, the one that suits a front door, a side entry, or a run along a fence line. Matt black reads contemporary against render; textured white sits better on weatherboard or a lighter facade. Both finishes are on cast aluminium, which is what keeps the frame rigid outdoors.

The obscure glass matters more than the shape does. It takes the hard point of light off an E27 globe and turns it into a soft glow, which is the difference between a welcoming entry and a light you squint at from the driveway. One globe to 60w, not included. IP44 rated, and hardwired, so an electrician installs it.

Happy with my lights
They look quite nice and from a distance really look the part. If you look closely you can see they aren't really vintage lights, but for the price I think they are good value.

Coach Lights
I bought one as a sample and put it together. I liked it so much that I bought another nine for a home I am building. I took the chance on buying them because building approval hasn't been granted yet. As soon as approval has been granted I will be buying all my internal lights with the same expectation of satisfaction. It was so easy to order them online. I live in the Hunter Valley and it was no problem to order and have them delivered within a few days. Well done The Lighting Outlet.
