Squared off light for the top of a pier

Most driveway pillars end in a flat rendered or brick cap that does nothing after dark. This fitting sits on that cap and turns it into the thing people aim for when they pull into the driveway. The form is deliberately plain, a clean glass box with a slim frame, so it reads as part of the pier rather than an ornament bolted to the top of it.

The footprint is 300mm square and 275mm tall, which suits a standard brick or rendered pillar. Measure the cap before you order, because a top that overhangs badly or floats in the middle of an oversized cap is the one thing that makes these look wrong. A matched pair either side of a gate is the usual arrangement.

It is IP44 rated, so it handles rain and splashing without complaint, and the black and graphite finishes are chosen to weather quietly rather than show every mark. The globe is not included, which is deliberate. Choosing your own lets you set the brightness and colour temperature for the entrance instead of accepting whatever came in the box.

This is a hardwired 240V fitting and should be installed by a licensed electrician.

Quite flimsy construction, dynabolts and dome nuts were very poor quality.

Not convinced about the quality but good service
Haven't had them installed yet but when they arrived one glass panel was broken. TLO were quick to respond and sent another one, well padded but again a corner was chipped and again they were quick to respond and sent another one that arrived intact. One of the light's roof screw had come out that I screwed back in. One of the light's bolt hole is not drilled but the electrician said he can drill it out. So good customer service, just not sure about quality but they weren't expensive.
