This light was purchased for a bedroom with high ceilings and separate fan. The crystal effect is not tacky looking, but quite elegant. What I do like and was not expecting is that once the light is on, there is a sparkly effect which looks a little like tiny stars. Not childish, but quite soothing and adds a interesting feature to the room. The sparkles are not super obvious, nor do they alter the light put out - they just have a nice mood!
